Update on Road Works in Knaphill residents are pleased to see improvements underway but have voiced some concerns about the details. MAJOR RESURFACING WORK – Top of Anchor Hill & High Street Work on resurfacing was done in February. Surface improved, but many residents have reported that the traffic lights on the uphill flow are now phased wrongly and this is causing traffic to build up and delays. David Durrant has advised KRA that: Since the resurfacing the detector loops have not been replaced. The lights are therefore working on a timed rather than demand basis. The detectors will be cut in shortly although I cannot give a specific date.
Broadway - New Zebra Crossing The drop kerb has been laid and some drainage work done, but residents suggest that puddles are still forming and water is slow to drain away. The new crossing point seems to have drainage problems and work is unlikely to be completed until these are resolved.
Redding Way / Tudor Way - Toucan Crossing
Controlled crossing started, but delay in finishing work until EDF provides power to the control system. Residents on Cavell Way have commented that the crossing point will be useful but that there should be a paved pedestrian connection from the Toucan crossing point to the top of the Hospital Estate. They have urged SCC to take action to join up the routes and make pedestrian access safer.
Also planned, other work for 2008 / 09 Financial Year:
Lower Guildford Road A controlled crossing point is to be constructed close to Northwood Avenue and speed limit to be reduced from 40 to 30 mph, Lower Guildford Road and Hermitage Road.
Lower Guildford Road/Victoria Road Changes will be made to the junction at Victoria Road reducing the distance that pedestrians have to cross.
